The Dental Implants Procedure

In the first step in the implant dentistry procedure, Dr. Cooper surgically places titanium posts in the patient’s jaw below the gaps where teeth are missing. The replacement teeth will then be placed in a second procedure that occurs within the next three to six months, after the jaw has healed and the titanium posts have fully integrated with the jawbone.

If only one tooth is being replaced, our implant dentist will attach a metal, ceramic, or porcelain crown to the titanium post. The type of crown is chosen based on where the missing tooth is located in the patient’s mouth. If multiple teeth are missing, then dental bridges are fixed to the implant posts. The color of the replacement teeth is carefully selected to match the color of the patient’s remaining natural teeth. In cases in which all of a patient’s natural teeth must be replaced, Dr. Cooper will attach a full set of dentures to several strategically placed implant posts.
