Dental implants are an excellent solution for individuals who have lost teeth due to injury or disease. This treatment offers both cosmetic and restorative dentistry benefits and enables patients to smile and chew with confidence once again. Dr. Michael Cooper has worked extensively with some of the state's leading surgeons who have placed dental implants. Dr. Cooper has restored numerous dental implants for patients in the Russellville and Little Rock areas over the last 25 years.
Dental implants are a safe, secure, and long-term treatment option for individuals with missing teeth. In the first step in the implant dentistry procedure, Dr. Cooper surgically places titanium posts in the patient’s jaw below the gaps where teeth are missing. The replacement teeth will then be placed in a second procedure that occurs within the next three to six months, after the jaw has healed and the titanium posts have fully integrated with the jawbone.
If only one tooth is being replaced, our implant dentist will attach a metal, ceramic, or porcelain crown to the titanium post. The type of crown is chosen based on where the missing tooth is located in the patient’s mouth. If multiple teeth are missing, then dental bridges are fixed to the implant posts. The color of the replacement teeth is carefully selected to match the color of the patient’s remaining natural teeth. In cases in which all of a patient’s natural teeth must be replaced, Dr. Cooper will attach a full set of dentures to several strategically placed implant posts.
Our implant dentist works with leading oral surgeons throughout the state of Arkansas who specialize in these procedures.
Implant dentistry is sometimes performed with other restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatments as part of a complete smile makeover. To learn more about the dental implants procedure, please contact our practice today to schedule a consultation.
Dental implants offer patients many advantages over traditional methods of replacing teeth. Dental implants can last for decades, if not a lifetime, and they never have to be removed for eating or cleaning. They are as sturdy and durable as natural teeth, and they allow patients to eat whatever foods that they desire. In addition, dental implants are practically indistinguishable from natural teeth – most people won’t be able to tell that you’ve undergone treatment!
